A powerhouse of style, color and cinematic motion, Will Barras’ work conjures up a film noir atmosphere within a futuristic urban environment. Figures, landscapes and the frequent appearance of modes of transportation, from boats and motorcycles to automobiles, are not so much painted as discovered in his canvases. His spontaneous layering technique results in a multi-dimensional color spectrum from which he fashions the outlines of a sensually wraithlike world.
