For Immediate Release:
Carmichael Gallery is proud to present Celebrity Will Eat Itself, a new series of works on canvas by English painter Guy Denning. This is the artist’s debut US solo exhibition.
Guy Denning has long entranced fans with the striking style and ethereal beauty of his androgynous portraiture. The Bristol-born artist’s newest body of work explores the notion of the eternally solipsistic uber-celebrity in all its splendor, hedonism, and pain.
An opening reception for Celebrity Will Eat Itself will be held on Thursday August 6 2009 from 7.00pm – 10.00pm. The exhibition will be open for viewing through Thursday August 27 2009 from 1.00pm – 7.00pm.

About Guy Denning:
Guy Denning has exhibited his paintings in solo and group exhibitions across the United Kingdom, Europe and United States since 1992. Sexual and temporal politics, objectification and isolation, some of the themes explored in his work, are illuminated through a carefully honed juxtaposition of shape and shade. Denning’s paintings blend an elegant classical form with an unflinching reflection upon issues that dog contemporary Western society.
